Description:

Neural Impulse Actuator (nia) marks a new era in gaming. Rather than being a substitute for a mouse, the nia is a pioneering new peripheral to be used in conjunction with your mouse for a more immersive gaming experience. The nia is compatible with any PC game using keyboard input? past, present, or future. Predefined profiles included with the software allow the gamer to develop their own nia?memory to launch the desired behavior of their character and shoot with the ?blink of an eye?, without lifting a finger.

Can't recommend

Strengths: Cool new technology, that seems to work in simple applications like the included Pong.

Weakness: Requires a LOT (many, many hours) of practice and even then, never works quite right.

In the end, I gave up and went back to a gaming mouse and my N52.
Product came with a rebate. I sent it in, complying with all rules and got a notice back from OCZ that they denied my rebate. No contact method, my UPC already sent in, no apparent recourse. Just another reason to wait until the technology matures and other vendors offer similar devices.

Weakness: I followed all the instructions and suggestions on the forums and then tried a few tricks of my own to try to get this new, promising-but-undelivered technology to work--but no joy.

While this technology may in time prove useful, especially for people with disabilities, my experience was not positive. Nevertheless, I hope research will continue in this vein, because I can imagine many uses for it other than gaming. It's possible that I received a defective unit and I am in the process of retutning the item. I may order another similar product in the future, after the bugs...
