ASUS UL80vt A1

Strengths: Outstanding Battery Life Generates little heat

Weakness: Touchpad is a little sensitive

Overall a good notebook computer and good value compared to others, especially the Mac. Battery life is unmatched (about 8 hrs average so far) and I like the keyboard.

Best Laptop I've Ever Owned

Strengths: Gaming, Portability, Battery Life, Touchpad, Screen, Design, DVD Drive

In short, this laptop wins with its 8 hour battery life, and its ability to become a more powerful machine that can play many modern games at full resolution without sacrificing portability.

Design
The Asus ul80vt looks quite stunning. The brushed aluminum lid is beautiful, but it also tends to pick up some fingerprints if you have eaten anything greasy recently. Also, dust is very visible if viewed in brighter light up close. The inside looks great, but it does attract smudges and dust, and it also starts to show blue dots when in extremely bright light. Still, you will want to show this off everywhere you go.

Touchpad and Keyboard
This touchpad supports multitouch gestures, and I really like it. They originally weren't my favorite things, but now I can't live without them. I actually prefer the touchpad to an actual mouse, unless I am playing games. The keyboard as a good looking chiclet layout, and it works very nice. However, sometimes the space bar doesn't react to a press, and I have to press it again. However, this is very rare.

Ports and Heat
The port selection is nice if you are just a casual user. It has more USB ports than I need, and the HDMI doesn't hurt. However, sometimes it is hard to attach things to them, like they are a bit to small. The only thing to say about heat is that there isn't any, even when serious gaming.

Performance
Even though this laptop is running a ULV, it never feels slow. This is mainly because you can overclock it to 1.73 Ghz, a 33 percent increase over the default SU7300 clock speed. This laptop is also paired with a Nvidia GeForce G210M and Intel integrated graphics, and you can switch between the two. With the CPU overclocked and the discrete GPU turned on, I can play some very intense games like Civilization V at native resolution. It never really got slow playing this, even though basically all of its specs are below the minimum printed on the Civ V case.

Battery Life
My favorite thing about this. When I am playing Civilization V, I can get about four hours out of it. With the CPU overclocked but the discrete GPU off, I can get about 8-9 hours of web surfing, and about 6.5 hours when playing some mainstream online games, like Age of Speed and RuneScape.

Conclusion
I love just about everything about this laptop. For the price, it couldn't be better. Even though this laptop came out last year, it is better than many new laptops that even cost hundreds of dollars more. Don't hesitate with buying the Asus ul80vt. You won't regret it.
