Description:
Improving performance by providing airflow. The Corsair Dominator Airflow fan unit contains three 40mm tachometer-controlled fans to provide impinging airflow to the memory subsystem. With the moderate RPMs required to provide adequate forced air the Corsair Dominator Airflow fan is nearly silent. The Corsair Dominator Airflow fan is designed to be matched with the Dominator heat sinks and allows even more heat to be removed from the DHX XMS2 Dominator modules.

Helps keep the memory cool
Strengths: Easy to install - since it clips on the DIMM slot tabs, it is memory-standard agnostic. I suspect it will have a greater cooling effect on hot-running memory such as server-type FB-DIMM's.
Weakness: I'm not sure it has any weaknesses per se, but I suppose if the air in the case is already warm then it is going to have a far more limited ability to cool the memory.
I put the fan on some DDR2 memory. Ambient case temperature is 26 degrees centigrade, the RAM is at 36 degrees centigrade. That's several degrees centigrade cooler than memory in some of my other systems that don't have these fans. Again, I assume that if one is using a warm-running memory, such as FB-DIMM technology, one might see a greater proportional benefit. Furthermore, it does not stick up...
